After retiring in March, we lose no time embarking on our long-anticipated dream.
Step 1: Sell the house. Timing is perfect – we get 14 offers and set a new record for price/sq ft in the neighborhood.
Step 2: Find new homes for everything that doesn’t fit in the RV. Four truckloads go to Goodwill. What isn’t given to friends, family and neighbors finds its way to eBay, Craigslist, a yard sale, recyclers, e-waste and household hazardous waste collections, and a bulky trash pickup. Not to mention scanning and shredding decades of financial statements, medical records, photos, etc. And we thought we were minimalists!
Step 3: Go paperless, set up auto-payments, pack up the cats, and spend the next couple of years exploring 49 states and Canada. We’ll keep you posted.

Very cool – way more organized than I imagine I could ever be.
I am in Dallas, TX visiting my parents who are 81 and 82. They could use some help “minimalizing” as could I.
Have a great time. I hope everything works out better than you hope.
You’re realizing Our dream …
Looking forward to following in your footsteps. Planning on June 18th being my last day at work. We need to sell our house too, and live in our trailer somewhere until John retires in December. Unless I can get him to retire sooner.
I look forward to following your travels and getting ideas!
