Perhaps this page should be titled, “Hoo we are,” since biologist Steve began his career counting spotted owls for the Forest Service.
[WARNING: While we would consider this page G-rated, you might want to stop reading now if you are easily offended.]
Steve is a typical San Francisco Bay Area native “hoo” loves snowboarding, windsurfing, biking, camping and all things outdoors. Aside from that brief stint in Oregon with the owls and another in Houston as a beekeeper, this is the first time he’s lived outside California. He spent 33 years working for Alameda County, first in the Ag department (he likes to tell people he stripped for medflies), then in Public Works.
Rhonda grew up in Minnesota, worked as a journalist in Texas and California, spent two decades as a Community Relations Manager for companies like Starbucks and a Toyota/GM joint venture, then started a corporate communications consulting company. She’s volunteered for several nonprofits, including 10 years with Furry Friends Rescue. She hates to camp, but loves traveling in an RV because it almost never involves walking through poison oak in the middle of the night trying to find a place to pee.
Minnie Pad: Our love affair with homes on wheels began in 2008, when we bought a 25′ Winnebago Minnie for what was supposed to be a summer fling. Instead, we fell in love with life on the road and over the next five years took her all over the country.
Maxi Pad: We sold the Minnie in 2013 and, in preparation for retirement and extended travel, upgraded to a 35′ Excel fifth wheel with roughly three times the square footage, solar panels and even a washer/dryer. Naturally, she was dubbed the Maxi Pad (with wings, since she has three slides)
BATmobile: We also bought a Dodge Ram 3500 dually tow vehicle, which was immediately christened the BATmobile (as in Big A– Truck – this photo illustrates why). That’s how we became BATman and Rhonda, and why Rhonda continually frets that its wide rear end makes her butt look big

Hej där tjejen! Det var inte igår. Oops! Pardon my Swedish …
Great! Hooray. Way to go. I am looking forward to following your adventures. As for myself I will have to wait too many years … (can you hear the quiet sobbing?).
Big hugs!
“Hoo”, boy, and I thought Steve was a shameless punster! I was amused by your profile! Glad you found Bowling Ball Beach. Where to next?
BATman and Rhonda, LOVE it! Thanks for having a way online that we can enjoy your adventures!
Golly, guys! We think your exploring is fantastic! Love the BATmobile! Henri’s is only a 2500. Travel safe and we’ll see you when you are back in SV area. In the meantime, will follow your site.
Haha, love it! I’m at my usual Pam-pace; slow to start (reading this) but will follow from now on. Very engaging posts!
